How to join

Become A Toastmasters Member
Our club is made up of people of all walks of life. We all want to improve our communication and listening skills as part of our personal or professional development.

We would love you to join us at Daybreak Toastmasters, and we’d love you come along to our meetings and see if we’re the group for you! Our meetings are held every Wednesday from 6:45am to 8:20am at the Parnell Community Centre, Parnell Road.

Alternatively you can contact our VP Membership Dave Syder (027 459 9783) or email us at daybreak@toastmasters.org.nz

Joining Daybreak Toastmasters is fast and simple
If you’d like to join Daybreak Toastmasters the club and joining fees are as follows:

  • Initial one time joining fee $115 (includes starter pack)
  • Weekly club fee $15 (covers a yummy breakfast, tea, coffee and venue hire)
  • Payment can be in cash, by automatic payment, cheque or direct credit and can be made on the day.

When you’re ready you can complete a Toastmaster Membership Application Form available from a club member and pay the joining fee. Once your application has been completed you will be registered with Toastmasters International in the United States.

When you have paid your fees, you will take an online Pathways Assessment, which helps you to pick a personalised Toastmasters Pathway. This is tailored to what you want to achieve in your personal and professional life. You’ll travel this Pathway via several projects, supported by your fellow Daybreak members.

Speaking Programme
Your name will be placed on the meeting programme and you’ll start with an Icebreaker speech. Here is a sneak peak of what you’ll start off with.

Resources
As a new member, you can be assigned a mentor to help you get started.

You’ll also have access to a wide range of Toastmasters resources, some of which you can purchase, and some may be available through the Toastmasters International website. You’ll receive “The Toastmaster” magazine delivered to your letterbox every month. This magazine is crammed full of interesting articles and news about Toastmasters all over the world. Once you are a member you can view current and previous issues online at the Toastmasters website.

You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in speech contests, and attend conventions and workshops.

Renewal of Fees
Ongoing membership fees are paid twice a year to Toastmasters International, in April and October, by the Daybreak Toastmasters Committee.
